TESTIMONIALS
I first started working with Mr. Kirby when I was 15 years old and a junior in high school. I had never sung before, no technique, barely able to match pitch and had just a few months to prepare for a lead role in a musical. Mr. Kirby didn’t just teach me how to sing; he completely transformed my voice, my confidence, and my relationship with performance.
What set his teaching apart was his blend of technical precision, honest feedback, deep encouragement, and above all, patience. I was navigating a lot at the time and Mr. Kirby created a space where I could grow without fear or judgment.
One moment that defined my growth was playing the Phantom in Phantom of the Opera. Standing onstage with one of the most vocally demanding roles in musical theatre, I felt zero nerves. I trusted my voice, trusted my training, and for the first time, I could just perform confidently, freely, and fully present. That kind of transformation only happens with a teacher who knows exactly how to unlock your potential.
When I started, I planned to pursue only drama. Musical theatre wasn’t even part of the plan. That shifted when Mr. Kirby asked me a question I’ll never forget: “How would you feel if you never sang again?” That one question changed everything. I went on to graduate with a BFA in Musical Theatre from SUNY Cortland, and today I’m a working actor with representation, singing almost every day.
The energy and vibe of Mr. Kirby’s lessons are a huge reason why I fell in love with singing. He teaches from the heart of a performer. Someone who deeply understands what it takes to stand on a stage and move an audience. His passion is contagious, and his ability to guide and inspire is rare.
Mr. Kirby is the kind of multi-dimensional talent that elevates any room he’s in. As a teacher, performer, and creative force, he brings not only skill but vision and any creative team would be lucky to have him in their corner.
